Laura Gumaer

Laura and her husband, Kevin, have had a home in Adirondack and have been ESSLA members since 1993. They, along with their son, extended family and friends have enjoyed Schroon Lake year round. Laura and her family spent their summers on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River and she has always had a love of the water and all it has to offer. After graduating from SUNY New Paltz with degrees in Education and Communication Arts, she went on to a rewarding career in education and has also been involved in organic farming and gardening for many years. Laura joined the ESSLA board after many years as a member. Her primary role on the board is to oversee the Loon Friendly Certification Program which is granted by the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation to lake associations that fulfill rigorous criteria to promote and ensure the healthy habitat necessary for the loons to thrive. Laura also volunteers as a scout for invasive aquatic and terrestrial species that could pose a threat to Schroon Lake and its watershed. Laura has a deep and abiding respect and love for Schroon Lake and would like to ensure that the integrity and beauty of the lake and its watersheds be preserved for future generations.
