ESSLA Sponsors the NYS Safe Boating Course one or more times each year taught by a certified instructor/member.
Please see this web site’s Calendar for dates and times.
Minimum age requirement to attend is ten years of age. There is no charge for the course but those 18 and older must pay $10 to the State of New York upon successfully completing the course for their certificate with no state charge for those under 18. The course is eight hours of classroom instruction usually taught in two four hour sessions. Both sessions must be attended. Preregistration is required and class size is limited so we advise you register early. Please do not register unless you plan to attend.
NOTE:
In order to operate a personal watercraft (jet ski) within NYS the operator must be a minimum of 14 years of age. New York requires that anyone operating a PWC complete an approved course in boating safety and must carry their certificate at all times when operating a PWC.
Also, Children 10 thru 18 must have a certificate to operate a watercraft on NYS waters without adult supervision.
