Lake Level Monitoring

ESSLA Board member Rich Nawrot continues a dialogue with USGS hydrologist Gary Wall on lake level monitoring. Once the data we have available is analyzed, the hydrologist will come up and present his findings and conduct a discussion/meeting on the lake level issue.  That meeting is now set with the SLSC for April 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Horicon Town Hall. Discussion will focus on the hydrological conditions on Schroon Lake and what measures (if any) can be taken to mitigate the water level fluctuation.

Based on a computer simulation that was prepared by the hydrologist, the early indication is that the inflow volumes exceed the dam and spillway outflow capacity. This project has since become part of the Schroon Lake Steering Committee, of which  Rich is a member. ESSLA will remain proactive on the SLSC to determine what, if anything, can be done about the significant variations in water level on  the lake and river.
